Fear in Germany: Huge increase in sales of electric heaters

by time news

Sales of electric heaters have increased as Germans prepare for a possible energy crisis in the coming winter.

Around 600,000 heaters were sold in Germany in the first six months of 2022, according to market research firm GFK. This is 35% higher than the same period last year.

There has been a huge increase in sales of electric heaters in the past two months and the heaters on hand are running out, said Frank Doering, owner of the Eason Doering Electrical store in Berlin.

“I can’t comment on when they will bring the new heaters,” said Vyokita.

Germany relies heavily on Russian energy imports and has repeatedly cut Gazprom’s gas supplies, raising fears that Russia could cut supplies to gain political influence over Europe.
