The name of the soldier who died last night (Wed) after drowning at Dalila beach in Ashkelon during a military vacation was allowed to be published. The soldier who died is the late Corporal Roy Kuglams, 19 years old from Jerusalem. An IDF spokesperson stated that “the circumstances of the incident are under investigation. A message has been given to the family. The IDF shares in the family’s grief and will continue to accompany it.”

As a reminder, a report of an unconscious man being pulled from the water was received at the MDA center at 19:31. The MDA teams that arrived at the scene performed CPR on him as soon as they arrived at Dalila Beach and evacuated him to the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon where they had to pronounce him dead.

MDA paramedics, Ronan Shunam Halevi and Israel Logsi, who were present at the scene said: “We saw an unconscious man on the beach at the water’s edge, without breathing and without a pulse, after he was pulled from the sea by people who were on the beach and started basic resuscitation operations. We gave him medical treatment and performed advanced and prolonged resuscitation operations while evacuating him to the hospital, when his condition is critical.”
