Moongilthurapattu: Panchayats in Shankarapuram district are showing dissatisfaction in supplying drinking water to the temporary tank operators due to non-payment of wages for 4 months.

Temporary tank operators are working to provide uninterrupted drinking water to the public in 48 panchayats in Sankarapuram taluk. They are paid 2,000 to 5,000 rupees per month. In this situation, they have not been paid for the last 4 months. Due to this, the tank operators are dissatisfied and are reluctant to supply drinking water to the public.

Due to this, many panchayats are engaged in protests including road blockades due to non-availability of potable water. If we ask the temporary workers, the panchayat administration does not pay us properly every month. They say go and ask the panchayat administration.

Not only are the tank operators affected by the non-payment of salaries, but the public is also affected by the lack of proper water supply. Therefore, steps should be taken to pay the tank operators regularly on a monthly basis.
