Indian-origin Rupali H. on the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Desai has been appointed as a judge.
This is the first time that a judge of South Asian origin has been appointed to the powerful court.
Following the resolution brought in the Senate in this regard, 67 members voted in favor and 29 members voted against, Rupali H. Desai’s appointment is confirmed.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, located in San Francisco, California, is the most important of the 13 United States Courts of Appeals. 29 judges are serving in that court which has the widest legal boundaries of 9 provinces and 2 territories of the country.
