The DALL-E-2 AI engine scorched the web with its ability to generate original images, drawings and illustrations based on a simple textual description fed to it. Calcalist reporter Vicky Auslanderer explains that all these creations did not come out of nowhere, but are based on hundreds of millions of creations by designers and illustrators harvested by the developers of Dali 2 and fed into its artificial intelligence algorithm.

“When Dali 2 presents works as if they were his, as if they were original, but sometimes it’s clear which style he’s imitating, it’s clear who he’s copying. I’m not sure what the poet meant when he said ‘fair use,'” she says. “The question arises, is Dali’s art creative, is it innovative, or is it actually theft?”.

And also: Calcalist’s legal commentator, Moshe Gourli, on the Regional Labor Court’s decision to approve the class action against Walt, which requires it to recognize its emissaries as full-time employees and its broad implications: “It is not impossible that Israel, which is always a step and a half behind the world, will adopt an intermediate model in which Employees receive some of the social benefits that accompany the recognition of an employee, but not their voice. Something that will allow the imposition of a financial burden, but not too great, on Walt.”
