A shiny garbage bag that belongs to the prestigious fashion house “Balenciaga”, made entirely of calf leather and decorated with a delicate logo. It comes in four colors, including black, white, yellow and blue as it makes its way to stores after debuting in the fall 2022 collection at the Paris fashion show last March.
The luxury bag was designed “inspired by a trash bag” with an outrageous price tag of $1,790. “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make the world’s most expensive trash bag, because who doesn’t love fashion scandals?” said Balenciaga’s creative director, Damna Gvasalia.
Now, the bag is sold in stores and has gone viral on social media thanks to a post on Instagram that received a lot of reactions ranging from bewilderment, outrage and laughter. “Are they trying to make a joke out of their consumers?” wrote one surfer. Shani responded: “It seems that the designer there is out of control.” Another joked: “I have 40 of these under the sink. Why would I pay half my salary to buy this bag?”.
