The long wait for AMD’s new processors is coming to an end. A teaser has been released by motherboard manufacturer MSI revealing that it will actually launch the new boards for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors on September 15, the first day they will actually be available for purchase.

This teaser joins previous reports that the Zen 4 desktop processors, along with the supporting X670 and X670E chipsets, will be officially announced on August 29 and go on sale two weeks later. Reviews of the new processors, which are already on their way to the press, will be allowed to appear starting September 13.

The initial launch of the Ryzen 7000 processors should contain five processors, one of which is Ryzen 5, two of which are Ryzen 7 and the other two are Ryzen 9. The flagship processor in this list is the Ryzen 9 7950X with 16 physical cores and support for 32 logical cores with a maximum speed per core of 5.5 GHz and with a smart cache memory of 80 megabytes. Its TDP will range from 105 to 170 watts.

The processors are still manufactured in 5 nanometer lithography and according to the company should provide single-core performance that is about 15% better and multi-core performance that is about 35% better than their corresponding processors in the Zen 3 generation. The entire platform now supports PCIe Gen 5.0 slots, support for mounts Fifth generation M.2, DDR5 memory support and will also offer new firmware to support SAS storage that is optimized to run with the DirectStorage API framework.

Later this year, the company should expand the list of processors, as well as launch the B650 and B650E chipsets designed for cheaper boards that support slightly fewer features. And at the beginning of the year it is supposed to launch the next generation of mobile processors based on Zen 4.
