JChinese smartphone brands Oppo and OnePlus have stopped selling smartphones in Romania. After losing a case against Nokia, both the companies stopped selling the phone in the country.

Nokia had filed a case against the two companies, accusing them of using their patented technology that handles 4G and 5G signals without a license. The court ruled in favor of Nokia in this case and issued an interim order to stop the sale of the phone.

Nokia, a finish company, is a telecom equipment manufacturer with a large influence in European countries. Nokia is collaborating with Indian telecom companies to provide technologies for deploying 5G network in India as well. Meanwhile, the Nokia mobile brand is owned by another Finnish company, HMD Global.

Oppo and its sub-brand OnePlus have stopped selling phones in Germany following a court order. The companies’ websites were also changed.

Information on devices including phones and smartwatches has been removed from the German websites of Oppo and OnePlus. But even if you get to the devices page on the site through other means, you get an ‘error’ message when you try to buy them.

The companies have confirmed the information about the suspension of phone sales through a statement. Meanwhile, The Verge reports that Oppo officials are alleging that Nokia is demanding an unfair amount to renew the contract for the technology in question.

Oppo and OnePlus phones currently in use will not be affected. Phones may still be available through other resellers. Although they are big in markets like India, they lag behind these brands in the European market. Brands like Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi are leading here.
