Two dead in a fatal accident near Rosh Ha’Ain

Tonight (between Wednesday and Thursday) at 10:14 p.m., a report was received at the emergency centers about a car accident involving two vehicles on Route 5 from the Shumron Crossing Checkpoint towards the Shaar Shomron Interchange, near Rosh Ha’Ain. Two injured people without signs of life were found trapped in the vehicles. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire crews that were called to the scene extinguished the fire in the vehicle in which he was trapped, and performed a rescue with hydraulic tools of another trapped in the other vehicle.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the police shows that one of the vehicles was stolen a short time before, during a wild drive on Route 5, although no one was chasing him, the car thief hit the vehicle in the Ornit interchange area. Immediately after that, the car thief turned around and started driving against the direction of traffic towards the west, during the drive the car thief hit the car in front of him head-on, and as a result of the accident the two drivers of the vehicles were killed.

Traffic examiners of the Israel Police arrived at the scene and are collecting findings, as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

MDA paramedic Dor Tzbari: “This is a very serious car accident. The vehicles were in the opposite lanes when one of them caught fire and the drivers were trapped. We performed medical tests, but they suffered from multiple systemic injuries and had no signs of life, and after medical tests we had to pronounce them dead.”

Avraham Nissan, a medic at the Rescue Union, reported from the scene: “This is an accident involving two vehicles. Both drivers were killed as a result of the serious nature of the accident. One of the vehicles even caught fire due to the accident.”

A preliminary examination shows that one of the dead is a resident of Ornit. The second, apparently the car thief, has not yet been identified.
