Kollam: Kollam Toll Plaza Attack: A man is in police custody in the incident of assaulting a toll plaza employee in Kollam. Lanjith, a native of Varkala, was arrested. His friend Shibu, who was with him, has also been taken into police custody. The police have received information that he is a lawyer. Arun, a native of Kuripuzha, was beaten up by car passengers yesterday.

The incident took place at Kavanad toll booth on Kollam bypass. Arun said that the beating was for questioning their vehicle passing through the emergency gate without paying toll. When they stopped them, they grabbed Arun from the car and took him a long way to the front and beat him brutally. Arun, who was injured in the beating, has been admitted to a private hospital in Kollam. The violence was committed by those who arrived in a car bearing the number KL 26 F 9397. CCTV footage of the incident was also released.

Unaware that the road was being repaired, the passengers who arrived in the car demanded to be let off. The youths told the repairmen that the car entered because there was no warning board related to the ongoing work. But after the tarring worker objected to this, there was an altercation between them. During this, the youth complained that boiling tar was poured on the body.
