Akash Chopra clarified that the team should focus on Hardik Pandya’s workload management

Delhi: Former player and commentator Akash Chopra believes that even if replacements are found for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrak, there will be no replacements for all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Chopra said in Star Sports that a player who bowls and bats four overs in international T20 is the balance of the team. He also stated that India’s plans in the Asia Cup will not work without Hardik.
‘Hardik Pandya bowling four overs is like an insurance policy. He is performing well. No doubt about that. Hardik Pandya is the only player who gives balance to the team in the Asia Cup squad. Without him, all the plans of the Indian team will fall apart. You can find replacements for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and even Jasprit Bumrak. Akash Chopra also said that without Hardik Pandya, it is not possible to prepare the playing eleven.
Akash Chopra clarified that the team should focus on Hardik Pandya’s workload management. ‘Hardik Pandya might bowl four overs against the Pakistan team. But there is no need for teams like Afghanistan and Sri Lanka,” added Chopra. Hardik Pandya, who returned after a long injury break, is active in bowling by IPL 2022. Pandya is showing the same form in batting as well.
The Asia Cup is being held in the UAE this time. India’s first match is against Pakistan on 28th of this month in Dubai. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team. Along with the return of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Aathush Khan are the other players retained in the squad. Deepak Chahar, Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer are the standby stars.
