Residents of Petach Tikva planned to come today (Friday) at 3:00 PM to a demonstration of support for the arrested mayor, Rami Greenberg, in front of the detention center in Abu Kabir. Finally, in the last hour, a message was received that the demonstration was postponed and a new date would be given. First, resident and activist Zvika Stern posted the following message on Facebook:

“Today at 15:00 we are coming to support our beloved mayor Rami Greenberg! Just before Shabbat we will all come to a demonstration of support in front of the Abu Kabir detention center. We will shout to our beloved and dear mayor and support him! It seems to him that he is not Alone! We will strengthen him, encourage him, and give him strength!”

Later in the morning, the following message was published in the groups: * Demonstration of support for Rami Greenberg postponed * * We will update on a new date * Shabbat Shalom

In addition, a sign supporting Greenberg was placed on the Beilinson Bridge in Petah Tikva. The sign reads: “Rami Greenberg is steadfast by your side, with you all the way, residents of Petah Tikva.”

Greenberg’s lawyer, Adv. Ofer Bartel, said: “The mayor’s election campaign was conducted according to the law. A detailed report on every expenditure and income was submitted to the state auditor and approved by him. The mayor works night and day to be a loyal public messenger to the residents of Petah Tikva. It is very difficult to be a public emissary in the Holy Land and it is doubly difficult and dangerous to be such an emissary who strictly observes cod. The mayor answers all the questions asked and will continue to cooperate with the police until the end of the investigation. He asks all the residents of the city not to rush to judge him and wait patiently for the end of the investigation.”
