London: India’s Cheteshwar Pujara has been brilliant for Sussex in the Royal London ODI Championship after his brilliant performance in the County Championship. Pujara scored a stunning 73-ball century against Warwickshire in the Royal London ODI Cup ODI Championship. But even Pujara’s century could not win over Sussex in a thrilling contest.

Warwickshire beat Sussex by four runs in a thrilling match till the last over. Pujara’s dismissal in the 49th over dealt a blow to Sussex. 20 runs were needed in the last two overs. As Pujara fell, Sussex fell short of victory. Sussex needed 67 runs to win in the last eight overs. Pujara, who scored 22 runs including one six and three fours in the 45th over bowled by Liam Norwell, gave Sussex hope of victory.

Pujara, who completed his half-century in 50 balls, then got into top gear. Later, Pujara reached his century in 23 balls. Pujara scored 107 runs off 79 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Alistair Orr, who scored 81 runs, also shone for Sussex. India’s Kranal Pandya bowled for Warwickshire and took three wickets for 51 runs in 10 overs. Earlier, Robert Yates scored a century (114 off 111 balls) and Captain Rhodes (76 off 70 balls) scored a half-century for Warwickshire, who batted first.

Earlier, Pujara had shone with five centuries, including two half-centuries, for Sussex in the County Championship.
