Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Thailand: Ordered to stay in hotel room

by time news

Bangkok: It is known that the former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapakse, who has taken refuge in Thailand, has been ordered by the government of that country to stay in a hotel room.

Sri Lanka’s former president Gotabaya Rajapakse, who fled the country due to political unrest, first went to the Maldives and then to Singapore. As the permit period for Gotabaya in Singapore expired the day before yesterday, the country’s government accepted his request and allowed him to stay in Thailand temporarily.

After that Gotabaya Rajapakse arrived and landed at the military air base in Bangkok by a private plane yesterday night. 3 more people came with him. Gotabaya had originally decided to land at the airport in Phuket Town.

But the plan was changed due to possible leaks. Gotabaya Rajapakse was taken from the Bangkok military airbase to an undisclosed hotel.

There, plainclothes Thai special unit police officers are engaged in policing. For safety reasons, Thai authorities have asked Gotabaya to stay in the hotel and not to go out.
