Mumbai: Maratha community leader and Shiv Sangram Party president Vinayak Mete died in a car accident. The accident took place early Sunday morning on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Near the Madapp tunnel, the car in which Vinayak Mete was traveling was hit by another vehicle.
Navi was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai but could not be saved. Vinayak Mete’s security personnel were also in the car. Ram Doble, a seriously injured police officer, is undergoing treatment. The car was completely destroyed in the accident.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis rushed to the MGM Hospital in Navi Mumbai as soon as they came to know about the incident. Many political leaders of the state have condoled Mete’s death. Former Maharashtra Legislative Council Member (MLC) Vinayak Mete has a wife and two children.
