Kannur: Chief Minister’s Private Secretary K.K. Kannur University with an explanation on the appointment controversy of Ragesh’s wife Priya Varghese. In a press release, the vice chancellor of the university informed that there is no basis in the argument that the person with the higher score was rejected because of higher research score. The university’s explanation came after documents emerged which proved that the interview for the post of associate professor was done with the preconceived notion of giving first rank to Priya Varghese, who had the lowest research score.

UGC According to the university, a research score of 75 along with other qualifications is sufficient to apply for the post of associate professor in law and a higher score does not necessarily mean that you will be appointed. The software score is calculated based on the number of publications based on the information provided by the applicant in the online application prepared by the university for teaching posts. The university has also made it clear that only qualified candidates will be appointed.

Irregularities in the appointment were revealed in crucial documents obtained under the Right to Information Act. Joseph Scaria had the highest research score for research publications among the six interviewees, with 651 points. According to the records, Priya Varghese has only 156 points. Priya has the highest marks in the interview. It was also clear from the records that others with higher research scores were given lower marks than Priya in the interview. The Save University Campaign Committee has submitted the RTI documents to the Governor.

The SAVE University Committee had already raised the issue that Priya Varghese was not qualified for the post of Associate Professor. Priya Varghese had the least teaching experience.
