After the Torah elders called on the ultra-Orthodox public to demonstrate against the autopsy of the 4-year-old who was allegedly murdered by his family member in Jerusalem, violent protests broke out this evening (Sunday) in several locations across the country, including Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Modi’in Illit, Bnei Brak, the Safed area, and the north.

As mentioned, in the area of ​​Shabbat Square and Bar Ilan Street in Jerusalem and Nahar Jordan Street in Beit Shemesh, demonstrations developed during which hundreds of rioters blocked roads, rioted, threw stones and objects and burned garbage cans on the spot.

Police forces operated on the scene to restore order using measures to disperse disturbances, so far five suspects have been arrested. Also, in Bnei Brak, about 350 people demonstrated, the Jabotinsky-Hashomer intersection and the Jabotinsky-Gaha intersection were blocked to traffic.

Yesterday, the four-year-old boy who was allegedly strangled yesterday by his 20-year-old uncle in Jerusalem was pronounced dead. Following the toddler’s death, the investigation case went up a notch and is now defined as a murder case.

From a preliminary investigation it is suspected that during the morning several family members were in the apartment and at a certain point they noticed that the victim was not answering their calls.
