More than 7 thousand tons of food were delivered to the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug by sea, with the planned volume of 14.7 thousand tons by the end of the navigation season, the press service of the regional government said. The regional authorities plan to solve the problem with the shortage of goods with the help of aviation.

“In total, in navigation-2021, it is planned to bring 14.7 thousand tons of products to the district, of which socially significant goods will amount to 4.7 thousand tons or 32%. More than 7 thousand tons of food has already been delivered, including 2.8 thousand tons of socially important products, ”the government’s website says.

The regional government associates the problem with the global logistics crisis. “Because of this, the ports of Vladivostok have accumulated cargo for the Far Eastern regions – Chukotka, Kamchatka, Sakhalin and the Magadan region,” the message says.

The number of ship calls at the ports of Chukotka in July-September was three times less than usual, said the governor of the region, Roman Kopin. About 200 containers are awaiting shipment to Chukotka.

Earlier, in addition to the governor of Chukotka, the governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov reported about the problem with the delivery of goods. In mid-October, he noted that food supplies have already been established, but problems remain with the delivery of building materials.
