Zelenski, Erdogan and Guterres will meet on Thursday in Ukraine

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski; his counterpart from Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan; and the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, will meet on Thursday in western Ukraine, this international organization announced today.

“At the invitation of President Volodimir Zelensky, the secretary general will be in Lviv on Thursday to participate in a trilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Ukrainian leader,” Guterres’ spokesman Stephane Dujarric said during a news conference.

The meeting will “examine” the implementation of the international agreement signed in Istanbul in July to allow grain exports from Ukraine, “in which Turkey is a key element,” he added, according to the AFP news agency.

“A series of issues will be raised in general, such as the need for a political solution to the conflict. I have no doubt that the issue of the nuclear power plant (in Zaporizhia) and others will also be discussed,” Dujarric said, specifying that there will also be a bilateral meeting between the Ukrainian president and the general secretary.

Poland accuses Germany and France of imposing a “de facto oligarchy” in the EU

The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, denounced the “de facto oligarchy” imposed by France and Germany in the European Union (EU) and called for a “return to principles” of the bloc, in an article devoted to the war in Ukraine published today in the French newspaper Le Monde.

According to Morawiecki, the conflict in Ukraine “revealed the truth about Europe”, which “refused to listen to the voice of truth” coming from Poland about the “imperialist” ambitions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which in his opinion represents “a illustration of the broader problem the EU is currently facing”.

“In its interior, the equality of individual states is of a declarative nature. The political practice is that the German and French voices have preponderant importance,” said the Polish head of government.

“We are facing a formal democracy and a de facto oligarchy in which power is held by a few,” he said.
