The number of members of the Social Security fell in 187,000 people the month of August according to the advanced data released this Wednesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration. Also, job creation has been maintained in August for the sixteenth consecutive month, with an expected increase in Social Security members of 65,000 people in seasonally adjusted terms, according to experimental statistics prepared with the data available in the first half of the month. “With this new increase, 340,000 new jobs will have been added since the beginning of the year and 700,000 new members since August last year, when pre-pandemic levels were reached,” the ministry said in a press release.

Although the average membership expected in August is 187,000 fewer members, it represents a smaller decline than the average of the pre-pandemic years, which was 199,000 fewer.

The data also show the shift in recruitment towards undefined formulas. Thus, in August, 81% of affiliates had an indefinite contract (12 percentage points more than in previous years).
