Caritas Internationalis, a subsidiary organization of the Catholic Church, is concerned about the worsening humanitarian situation globally.

In a statement issued on the occasion of the United Nations sponsored International Day of Philanthropy on August 19 of each year, this sub-sector organization has mentioned this situation in the world today.

Aloysius John, Secretary General of Caritas International, said in a statement that millions of people are suffering from a humanitarian crisis and that the war in Ukraine, the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequences of climate change have exacerbated this crisis.

He points out that food has become a political weapon, highlighted by the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, where millions of people are suffering from food shortages.

Aloysius also says that in a world that has become a humanitarian disaster, individuals are losing their right to live in dignity. He also reiterates Pope Francis’ reminder that addressing the humanitarian crisis plaguing the world today requires a holistic ecological approach.

Caritas Internationales therefore urges decision-makers to listen to the cries of the poor and put their aspirations for a dignified life at the center of all political decisions.
