BEIRUT: The husband brutally beat his wife who refused to have an abortion and set her on fire. The woman, who suffered severe burns, died days later. The incident took place in northern Lebanon. Gulf News reported citing local media that a pregnant Lebanese woman was set on fire by her husband.
21-year-old Hana Mohammad Khodur died on Wednesday. The woman succumbed to her injuries 11 days after battling her injuries at Al Salam Hospital in Tripoli. The doctors informed that the fetus died in the woman’s stomach before being surgically removed.
There was a quarrel between the young woman and her husband over pregnancy. The husband asked the woman to have an abortion as she could not raise the baby in a country with poor economic conditions and economic crisis. But the woman did not agree to this. Then the husband set fire to the woman. After the incident, the accused husband was arrested while preparing to leave the country.
