Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has said that we have removed restrictions on some organizations in anticipation of the help of diaspora Tamils to build the country.
He said this while commenting among the journalists regarding the lifting of the ban carried out yesterday.
He further commented,
“President Ranil Wickramasinghe has decided to seek the help of the Tamil people living abroad to rebuild our country which has fallen due to economic crisis.
He had publicly stated this in his recent policy briefing in Parliament.
By blacklisting diaspora Tamils and their organizations, we cannot seek their help in building the country.
Note also about other diaspora organizations
So in order to get their help we have removed restrictions on some organizations in the first phase.
“The government will continue to pay attention to other banned diaspora organizations and individuals,” he said.
