Marcell Jacobs’ Italian 4×100 m relay, preserved on Friday morning in the series of the Munich Athletics Euro, will not see the final on Sunday after being overtaken by the Turkish relay, which ran a repechage alone.
Hampered during their series by Finland, Turkey was allowed to run again a 4×100 m, alone, at the end of the program of the morning session, with the aim of beating the time of the last team initially qualified for the final, Italy.
On a wet track on a rainy morning, the Turks ran in 38.98 seconds, beating the time of the Italians, Olympic champions in Tokyo in 2021, by four hundredths of a second (39.02).
Titled in the 100m on Tuesday in Munich, Marcell Jacobs therefore leaves the Euro with only one gold medal, won on Tuesday in the 100m.
