Javad Jafari, a general in the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards, is responsible for the assassination attempts on Israelis in Turkey, which were thwarted with the cooperation of Israeli and Turkish intelligence. This was reported today (Saturday) in Iran International, an Iranian opposition media outlet based in London and funded by Saudi Arabia. Jafari was responsible for the assassination attempts in Turkey for nine months and planned, among other things, the assassination attempt on Israeli businessman Yair Geller in February.
Jafari was appointed to the task after he was expelled from Syria in November for “violating Syrian sovereignty”, on the orders of the country’s president, Bashar al-Assad. According to the report on the Iranian opposition website, his failure led to the dismissal of the organization’s head, Hossein Taab, after 13 years on the job.
Another figure who has been labeled in Iran as being responsible for the failure of the assassinations is the deputy head of the intelligence department of the Revolutionary Guards, Ruhollah Bazjandi, who was in charge of the assassination attempts on the former consul in Istanbul and three Israeli tourists. In the Revolutionary Guards, he was accused of using “unskilled agents” and was severely criticized within the organization for the failure of the mission.

According to the report, Bezjandi was also responsible for planning the assassinations of security officials inside Iran. Because Hossein Taab used it to plan operations outside the country’s borders, the Revolutionary Guards also accuse him of having Israeli Mossad agents attack and assassinate several targets on Iranian soil, including the murder of Hassan Saeed Khodai, and other key figures in Iran’s nuclear and missile development program.
