The police seized 180 kg of beedi leaves, 150 liters of diesel and the cargo van used for smuggling from Thoothukudi to Sri Lanka.

The Coast Guard Police are conducting intensive surveillance to prevent the illegal smuggling of goods such as turmeric and tobacco from Tuticorin to Sri Lanka.

In this situation, as per the orders of the District Superintendent of Police, Balaji Saravanan, the Special Police Force led by Vlathikulam Deputy Superintendent Prakash, conducted a vehicle search at the Pattinamarudhur beach area near Darvaikulam.

Then they checked a cargo van parked there as suspicious.

About 180 kg of beedi leaves and about 150 liters of diesel were found in it. In the investigation conducted in this regard, it was discovered that they were trying to smuggle them illegally to Sri Lanka.
