Yannick Jadot and hundreds of executives from Europe Ecologie-Les Verts call for a refoundation of the party

Several hundred executives – including the former green candidate for the presidential election Yannick Jadot – and activists from Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV) are calling, in a forum at the Sunday newspaper (JDD) from August 21, to “refound” their party in one “new environmental movement”.

Marine Tondelier, the initiator of the internal collective “La Suite”, and who could run for the succession to the national secretary of the party Julien Bayou, notes in the gallery that on climate change, “being right before everyone else does not give us any rights and will never be enough to impose ourselves as electoral or societal evidence”.

“We want EELV to rebuild itself, with its partners in the environmental division [comme Générations et Génération écologie] and all those who would like it »writes Marine Tondelier, assisted by the former head of the European list of Generation Ecology Dominique Bourg, the mayor of Poitiers Léonore Moncond’huy and the former deputy of Essonne and mathematician Cédric Villani.

“Differences with La France insoumise”

A “ecological class” exists, “much larger than the encarted community” within EELV, believes the municipal councilor of Hénin-Beaumont (Pas-de-Calais): “Parents and grandparents worried about their children”, “peasants crushed by the industrial agricultural model” or “entrepreneurs aware of planetary limits”.

“May this party, which will soon be 40 years old, give birth to a new welcoming, popular, friendly, democratic, federalist, ecofeminist, anti-racist movement, and more open to the associative movements which are renewing environmental action today”particularly advocates the platform.

The line of the movement that Marine Tondelier wishes to see born would be in favor of “degrowth” and in “opposition to capitalism or economic neoliberalism, to productivism and nationalisms, destroyers of life and solidarity”.

Among the signatories of the platform are the mayors of Grenoble Eric Piolle and Strasbourg Jeanne Barseghian, the former presidential candidate Noël Mamère, the former number one of the party David Cormand, the deputy (Generation. s) of the Dordogne Sébastien Peytavie or the president of the group of environmentalists in the Senate Guillaume Gontard. If she presented herself at the head of the party, Marine Tondelier could notably face the finalist of the primary, Sandrine Rousseau.

In an interview, also at JDDYannick Jadot also says he wishes “an ecological list for Europeans” autonomous from the New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). “Our differences with La France insoumise justify this autonomy”he pleads.
