Motorola has launched the 2022 version of Edge

by time news

Motorola has launched the new annual model of its mid-range device Edge. This is the basic device of the series which should see global versions of devices that are close in their configuration to flagship devices later this year.

The thing that stands out about the new phone Edge (2022) is actually its processor, even though it is a mid-market processor. The reason is that it is the first phone on the market with a Dimensity 1050 processor with two Cortex-A78 cores at a maximum speed of 2.5 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at a maximum speed of 2.0 GHz. It’s made with 6nm lithography and MediaTek’s mid-range adds mmWave 5G support alongside sub-6GHz 5G, which should provide a slightly faster browsing speed.

On the back, the design of the camera complex is a bit different and somewhat sophisticated and it includes a main camera with a 50 megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 lens and an optical image stabilizer – for the first time in the series. There is also a wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view, a 13-megapixel sensor with f/1.5 that is also designed for macro photography. There is also a standard third camera for measuring shooting distance. The selfie camera has a 32-megapixel sensor.

In front, the OLED screen offers a size of 6.6 inches in FHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, as in the previous generation, as well as support for HDR10+, and a fingerprint sensor under the screen. The phone will be sold with 8/256 gigabytes of non-expandable memory. The battery offers a working volume of 5,000 mAh and charging with a maximum power of 30 watts wired, and this year there is support for wireless charging with a maximum power of 15 watts, as well as reverse charging with a maximum power of 5 watts.

There is also support for Dolby Atmos, NFC and Bluetooth 5.2, as well as WiFi 6E. The price is $499, and the global distribution strategy has not yet been announced.
