Violation of the law; 14,631 foreigners were arrested in Saudi Arabia in one week

RIYADH: Inspections to detect violations of labor and residence laws in Saudi Arabia continue in force. 14,631 violators were arrested from different parts of the country within a week. The Ministry of Home Affairs officials arrested so many people during a field inspection conducted from August 11 to August 17 with the cooperation of various units of the security forces and Jawas.

Of those arrested, 8,756 were found to have violated the country’s residency laws. 4,007 people were arrested for violating border rules. 1,868 people were also arrested for labor law violations. 224 people were caught trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. 26 percent of them are natives of Yemen. 51 percent of those arrested are Ethiopians and 13 percent are from various other countries.

33 people who tried to cross the law from Saudi Arabia to other neighboring countries were also arrested. 23 people have also been arrested for arranging accommodation and travel for the violators. A total of 48,951 offenders are currently being processed for violation of regulations, of which 45,955 are males and 2,996 are females. 38,184 violators were referred to their diplomatic offices to obtain travel documents and process their air tickets. 13,711 violators were deported.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has warned that anyone who violates border security regulations by facilitating the entry of anyone into the country or providing him with transport, accommodation or any assistance or service will face a maximum jail term of 15 years. In addition, there is a warning that they will be fined up to one million Riyals, confiscation of the place where the vehicles were sheltered and their names will be published in the local media.
