New Delhi: As the Shanghai Summit is being held in Uzbekistan next month, there are reports that Chinese and Russian Presidents and Indian Prime Minister Modi are going to meet. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on September 15 and 16. The summit will be attended by the heads of member states of the organization.

According to reports, Indian Prime Minister Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are going to meet. However, India and China have not officially announced the summit. So far this year, Indian Prime Minister Modi has visited many countries for international conferences and bilateral relations. But it is noteworthy that Chinese President Xi Jinping has not traveled abroad since January 2020. Although not attending the Shanghai summit, the Chinese president is said to be participating via video link.

This summit has gained importance when the tension between US-China over Taiwan issue, conflict between US-Russia and China over Ukraine issue, India-China border issue etc. are considered important. If the leaders of the member states attend the Shanghai summit, PM Modi is likely to meet all the members individually. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahnawaz Sharif is also expected to attend the event.
