The Ministry of Justice estimates that no significant problems or difficulties are expected in the extradition of Shai Avital to Israel. In the evening news in Khan 11 it was announced today (Sunday) that the estimates are that the extradition, if it is not by agreement, will take a long time. The discussions can last for months, after which there is the possibility of an appeal and the approval of the political level is required.
Also, despite the fact that Israel submitted the request regarding two complaints, which, according to the prosecution’s assessment, there is sufficient evidence for prosecution and a reasonable chance of conviction, this is not necessarily the end of the sentence. To the extent that after the extradition and investigation, additional acts that can be prosecuted are discovered – this is possible even if they were not included in the original extradition request. However, this is conditional on the fact that the same acts constitute an offense in the Netherlands as well.

Avital will be brought tomorrow for a hearing on the extension of his detention in the Netherlands. The local police are expected to claim that the modeling agent is dangerous and may harm other women. The results of the hearing tomorrow have no effect on the extradition request of the models’ agent to Israel.

Yesterday news was published here that Avital is considering returning to Israel and responding to the extradition request when it is submitted soon. Avital’s associates said that after being exposed to suspicions in the arrest warrant against him – suspicions of indecent acts against two women – he is now considering the possibility of not legally fighting the extradition request in Amsterdam. The international department at the state attorney’s office has 40 days to submit the request, but according to the estimate the request will be submitted in the next two weeks.
