In terms of total points, Carlson was at the top with 16 points and Pragnananda was at the 2nd position with 15 points. Due to this, Pragnananda could not win the gold despite beating Carlson. 3rd place went to Alireza Birosa.

3rd place finisher Alireza Birosa lost to Pragnananda in the league match and got 3rd place despite equal points with Pragnananda.

The first two matches between Pragnananda and Carlson ended in a tie. Then Pragnananda won the 3rd 4th round. Pragnananda, who has defeated Carlson twice so far, has defeated him for the third time.
Pragnananda was instrumental in India’s bronze medal win in the B category at the recent 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai.
Pragnananda beat World No. 4 Biroja in his first round, followed by Anish Giri and Levon Aronian.

Pragnananda’s coach RB Ramesh took to Twitter to congratulate him, saying, “Great result in the final round. Pragnananda defeated Magnus. Pragnananda showed his tackling at crucial stages. However there were some false results. Overall, Pragnananda’s success is satisfying,” he said.
