Hapoel Tel Aviv is on its way to an interesting lightning move in the Israeli market. Travis Warrick showed up injured for the start of the team’s training, and in an examination it turned out that he was suffering from a significant injury to the Achilles tendon, which would disable him for several months. The Reds responded immediately, and are close to signing Adam Ariel, who has already reached an agreement with the club.
Ariel (27, 1.92) has remained free since he was released at the beginning of the summer from Po’el Yerushalayim, the team he grew up in and returned to two years ago. Last season he averaged 6.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in the Premier League.
If and when he arrives in Tel Aviv, Ariel will join Bar Timur (recovering from an ankle injury), Tomer Ginat and Idan Zalmanson (playing for the Israeli national team), Gil Bani and Lotan Amsalem in the Israeli squad.
Hapoel Tel Aviv was drawn to play against Kiryat Ata City in the quarter-finals of the Winner Cup on September 19. She will open her appearances in the Eurocup with a home game against the London Lions on October 11.
