NEW DELHI- As the farmers of many states protested yesterday, demanding various demands, there was a traffic jam in many parts of New Delhi.
Farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh staged a protest on the borders of New Delhi in November 2020, protesting against the central government’s three agricultural laws. This struggle lasted for more than a year. The central government announced in December last year that it would withdraw the agricultural laws. The protest was subsequently called off. In this situation, some farmers’ associations had called for a protest called ‘Maha Panchayat’ in New Delhi, emphasizing the demands of legalizing the minimum support price for agricultural produce, known as MSP. The Non-Political Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a breakaway from the farmers’ organization Morcha, called for the current agitation.
It was announced that this protest would be held for one day yesterday in the Jandar Mantar area of New Delhi. Farmers from states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh participated in this. Also, farmers from states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Kerala also participated.
As a result, security has been beefed up at all the borders of New Delhi. Barricades were set up and all vehicles entering New Delhi were checked. Due to this, there was a heavy traffic jam at the border and in most parts of New Delhi.
