According to the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, this transfer of resources will allow the creation of some 180,000 jobs, mainly among the group of self-employed workers. Sánchez considers that this aid is an “opportunity” for the development of the economy and the creation of jobs in a construction sector, highly affected by the crisis generated by the pandemic. The Government considers that aid for the rehabilitation and creation of social housing “is more necessary than ever due to the situation generated by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia” and to reduce the carbon footprint at a time when it is essential to promote the energy efficiency of homes.

The minister stressed that the aid will allow a significant reduction in citizens’ energy bills, with savings of around 30%. The set of aid transferred to the autonomous communities has been about 3,540 million euros, which represent 75% of the funds available for rehabilitation and 100% for social housing. These resources for social housing will translate into social rental in efficient buildings.
