The “Grein Sabar” project of the Scout movement landed in the last few days about 250 new immigrants, the movement’s apprentices from around the world. They will be taken in by Israel and acclimatized for about a week before going to Gdansk, receive their first orders and enlist in the IDF as individual soldiers starting in the middle of November – and by the end of December they will all be IDF soldiers in uniform. During the entire period they will be accompanied by Gerin Zabar, which is the year 31 for its establishment.

During the absorption phase they are expected to have trips to the south and the north, a GDA week, a journey following male and female fighters in the Golan, an Israeli society seminar in Jerusalem, an introduction to unique populations in Israeli society, a Hebrew studio, group formation, settling in the new house in the kibbutz, host families, a screening process and recruitment into the army Accelerated and more.

The new immigrants came to Israel from the United States, Russia, England, Canada, Ukraine, South Africa, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Chile, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Peru, France, Costa Rica, Ireland, Ecuador, Belarus, Brazil , India, Moldova, Paraguay, Czech Republic, Colombia, Sweden, Switzerland and Thailand.

“Kfar Gra’in Sabar Ra’anana” houses lone soldiers from all over the world and is the largest center for lone immigrant soldiers in Israel. The soldiers of the village receive comprehensive support from the program team, which includes living in full economy, an activity and leisure club, adoptive families and enrichment activities. Beyond “Kfar Gra’in Zabar Ra’anana”, some of them will be taken in by the various kibbutzim, where this summer Beit Zera, Regva, Gazit, Sde Eliyahu, Hatzor, Nir Yitzhak and Urim will participate. They will be divided into a student nucleus, a Russian-speaking nucleus, a Spanish-speaking nucleus (Latin America), a religious nucleus, a nucleus of preparatory school graduates, a European nucleus, an Australian nucleus and nuclei from the USA of course.

More in-

Since the establishment of the Sabar nuclear program 31 years ago, the program has provided a comprehensive support system to approximately 6,500 individual soldiers, all of whom have served full military service in significant roles as fighters and combat supporters. In the last cycle, 89% of the men with a combat profile serve as fighters (78% of all men in the core of Zabar). And among women, 40% serve as fighters – more than 3 times the general Israeli average. 30% of the male and female recruits serve in command and officer positions. 80% of them remain in Israel after being released from the IDF for a period of at least 5 years.

The project offers an organizational-educational framework for Jewish Israeli teenagers aged 18-24, who have been staying with their families all over the world for many years. After graduating from high school, these young people choose to come to Israel, volunteer, enlist in the IDF and do full service. The young people come to this decision after a long and deep personal process, which involves difficult deliberation.

Upon their arrival in Israel, the members of the nucleus are absorbed into Kibbutz Sispo, which serves as a warm and supportive home for them throughout their military service. During the first three months of their stay in Israel, the core members go through a process of absorption and screening in the IDF, study Hebrew in the studio (those who need to improve their language level), travel the country and learn about the country and its past. Also, the core members go through emotional and social preparation seminars, learn about what is happening in Israel From a political and cultural point of view and getting acquainted with the army, all this is done in order to bridge as much as possible the gap between them and the graduates of the Israeli education system.

During the military service, the core members acquire new friends, go through matriculation experiences and solidify the feeling of belonging to the country. It should be noted that in the course of the “Zabar” nucleus, all units in the IDF are open to the soldiers as part of the relevant recruitment season. Throughout the service, the scout movement accompanies the members of the nucleus and assists them in matters of immigrant rights, work and studies. A large number of the members of the nucleus remain in Israel after their military service , and many of them maintain a close and meaningful relationship as part of the “new family” they created for themselves.
