27-year-old Yelena Gerenberg from Rishon Lezion is the young woman whose body was found yesterday (Thursday) in an open field near Rehovot. A twenty-year-old resident of Bat Yam was arrested on suspicion of murder – this after Gerenberg’s family reported her absence and that she was not answering calls.

The police started an investigation. Yesterday (Thursday) after receiving a report about the discovery of a woman’s body with signs of violence in an open area near the streets. The forensic investigators at the scene collected findings to examine the background and circumstances. At the end of the assessment of the situation in the field, which was carried out by the Central Police Department – Superintendent Avi Biton, it was determined that the investigation will be conducted in the central unit of the district, while using all the necessary measures, as part of an investigation that was defined as a top priority, in accordance with the policy.
Nadia, Yelena’s sister, published on her Instagram page two comments referring to her sister, where she stated, among other things: “My beautiful little sister was murdered in cold blood”, and in another she added: “God will avenge your blood, my only sister”. Just three weeks ago, the nurse published a Facebook message in which she was looking for a match for Lelena. The message reads: “She is beautiful on the outside and even more so on the inside.”
