The information of a large international smuggling ring was unraveled when a young man was caught who smuggled snakes and lizards hidden in his pants. According to Los Angeles police, the reptile worth 7,50,000 dollars was caught in smuggling. The young man was caught trying to smuggle reptiles from Mexico to the United States. Jose Manuel Perez was arrested. According to the police, he is the main mastermind of the animal trafficking gang for six years.
Police recovered 1,700 different species from Jose Manuel Perez’s home, including sea turtles, baby crocodiles and Mexican beaded lizards. In March, he was caught trying to smuggle 60 of the creatures from Mexico in his waistband and other parts of his clothing. Three of the reptiles died during transit.
