For some Air France customers, who passed through Roissy airport during the summer, the suitcase has still not returned home on Friday August 26. And has been for weeks. In total, between 700 and 800 bags would still be lost.

An anarchy of luggage as far as the eye can see, behind the scenes at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, in July 2022. All summer, if the holidaymakers left well, their luggage did not systematically follow them. The same ubiquitous scenes took place in London (United Kingdom), or in Montreal (Canada). At the height of the staff strike, 35,000 Air France suitcases were lost. There are now 800 left.

For Isabelle Hercberg, a passenger on an Air France flight, she is between Paris and New York, in the United States. “It’s been 45 days, and I’m still waiting to find out where she is, knowing that in addition there are my contact details inside, there is my address, my medical prescriptions”, she says. After 21 days, the company must compensate the tourist. Air France ceases research after 90 days. Isabelle Hercberg refuses this legal provision. “I want to get my suitcase back, there are sentimental things in it. Money doesn’t interest me, what I want is my business”, she says. Air France is however not an isolated case. All the companies encountered turbulence during the summer.
