by time news
Kuwait City: Authorities have not exempted anyone from the decision to check the qualification certificates of all engineers working in Kuwait. No concessions will be allowed in this regard. Local media quoted officials as saying that the certificate check applies equally to all engineers, from new hires to those who have been working in Kuwait for decades. Certificates of natives and non-residents will be verified

The goal is to find fakers

The Kuwait Society of Engineers, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Manpower, conducts the certificate examination with the aim of ensuring the efficiency of the labor sector by detecting and eliminating counterfeiters in the country’s labor market. The authorities are assessing that by subjecting the certificates issued by universities in the Arab region and foreign countries to scrutiny, it will be possible to ensure that only those with the right qualifications work in Kuwait.

The 84-year-old’s certificate was also checked

The society also informed about the fact that the certificates of 84-year-old Palestinian Muhammad Houmal were recently examined. He has been working as an engineer in Kuwait for 48 years and submitted his certificate for verification as part of renewing his work permit. The interview committee under the Kuwait Engineers Society had also conducted a special interview with him as part of completing the related tests and accreditation procedures. Having completed his engineering studies from the former Soviet Union and has been working as an engineer in Kuwait since 1974, he was given the opportunity to present his certificates before the authorities for the first time. He noted that such tests would boost the confidence of Kuwaiti engineers.

There is no compromise in certificate verification

Faisal Al Atl, head of the Kuwait Society of Engineers, said that there can be no compromise in providing all the necessary facilities for the best engineers in the country and subjecting them to competency tests and checking their certificates as part of it. According to the figures released by the Authority of Civil Information, there are currently 40,709 engineers working in Kuwait. Only 26.3 percent of them are natives. The rest are all foreigners. 84 percent of engineers are men. Officials also informed that 4000 native women are engaged in work in Kuwait. Majority of the engineers are between 30 and 34 years of age. Only 106 engineers above 60 years of age are employed in the country.
