After the people’s revolution in Sri Lanka, which is facing a severe economic crisis, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was the president, has left the country and sought refuge in Singapore. He resigned his post from there. Following this, there was a change of government and Ranil Wickramasinghe took charge as the new president. Consequently, efforts are being made by Sri Lanka to seek assistance from international organizations to restore the economy.

Sri Lanka has been stuck in a severe economic crisis for more than four months. In the country, the prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed. There is shortage of petrol, diesel and food items. Due to this, people are suffering severely. The impact of this has particularly affected the country’s children, according to a UN report. According to UNICEF, a member of the United Nations, the health welfare of children has been greatly affected by the economic downturn in Sri Lanka.
