Kozhikode: Mountain flood patches in hilly areas of Kannur, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. In Kannur, near Seminary Villa on Mananthavadi-Netumpoil road, in Vilangad region of Kozhikode, and in Karuvarakund in Malappuram.
Many vehicles, including buses and goods vehicles, were stuck on parts of the road after landslides and widespread landslides occurred near Seminary Villa on the Mananthavadi-Netumpoil road. In the evening, the stones and soil were removed and traffic was restored. Earlier, in the first week of August, traffic was disrupted for weeks following landslides at several places on the road.
It is suspected that the landslide occurred in the forest of Vilangad Walook region of Kozhikode. The Vilangad bridge was completely submerged after the mountain water rushed in. Many shops in this area were flooded.
The heavy rain that started on Saturday morning is continuing in Kozhikode hilly region. A warning has been issued in the Vilangad region due to the flash floods. Traffic through the area has been restricted.
