LastPass claims that the hack was only for the development environment and there is no danger to user data

The hacking of significant websites in the network continues at a rapid pace. This time it was the turn of the popular password storage service provider LastPass. It admitted at the end of the week that hackers broke into its servers.

However, the company published a post on the official blog in which it claims that the hackers’ intrusion was carried out into the company’s development environment, and only there. According to LastPass, the hackers managed to get their hands on parts of the source code as well as technological information related to running the site. The company also added that the hack was carried out using a single account of a developer.

LastPass said that the service continues to function as usual and for the moment there was no problem with it from the point of view of the end users. “After an investigation that began immediately, we saw no evidence that this incident involved any access to customer data or the encrypted password vaults,” the company added.

LastPass’ message to users is that they do not need to take any action but continue to use as usual, and there is no need to reset the master password. She does recommend, as usual, to use two-step verification.
