“Disability is a daily reality for more than 12 million French people. And yet it remains one of the major causes of discrimination. People with disabilities have much less access to work, culture, public space, the media and, of course, sport than the general population. Only 5% of people with disabilities practice a regular sporting activity…” In 2019, the Paralympic athletes wrote a Manifesto, estimating that “the organization of the Paralympic Games in 2024 in Paris [était] a major opportunity to change the place of disability in society. Two years to the day of the event (August 28 – September 8, 2024), expectations remain high, even if society’s outlook is changing.
