Start-up at “The Lion’s Den” |
You can now pay with a ring on your finger
Köln – Hold the ring on your finger to the reader – and bang, payment is made! The Cologne start-up “Pagopace” wants to reinvent contactless payment.
Steffen Kirilmaz (29), Lukas Schmitz (29) and Bernhard Wernberger (57) sell the accessory in five colors and eleven sizes. It can be connected to the credit card.
There is a chip in the ring that works on card readers worldwide. “This makes it easier for customers to pay than ever before,” promises the trio.
“You can already pay with your cell phone or smart watch, but if they are empty, you are broke. The ring does not need a battery.”
On a beach holiday by the sea, vacationers would never have to hide their wallets under the towel again, because the waterproof credit card is right on their finger, the inventors tell BILD.
But what about security? “The payment only works if the ring is held at a distance of three centimeters and at the right angle to the reader.”
They now sell the rings for 99 euros in a shop on Neumarkt in Cologne and on the Internet. Over 10,000 have already been sold. To make this even more, the trio is trying to convince the investors of the start-up show “Die Höhle der Löwen” on Monday.
“Our dream lion is Carsten Maschmeyer,” they say. VOX shows from 8:15 p.m. whether one of the investors bites.
