Those who tried to go abroad by sea were arrested in Yali (pictures)

Jaffna – 17 people who were trying to go abroad from Baruduthurai area have been arrested by the Baruduthurai police today, Monday.

Investigation revealed that 15 of the arrested persons are from Silapam area and two are from Kilinochchi area.

The police went to the spot and arrested them based on a secret information received by the Paruttura police that a group was moving in a suspicious manner in the area.

Preliminary investigation

Preliminary investigations conducted on the arrested persons revealed that they were trying to travel to a foreign country illegally by sea.

After that, the police detained them at the police station and are conducting further investigations.
