In the coming years, the Russian Pacific Fleet will receive two Project 955 Borey-A nuclear submarines and two Project 885M Yasen-M submarines. This was announced on October 27 by the chief of staff of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet, Rear Admiral Arkady Navarsky.

“According to the armament plan, in the coming years it is planned to strengthen our association with new nuclear submarines, which will significantly strengthen the naval component of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces. We expect the arrival of four submarines – two Boreas and two Ash. Their construction is almost complete. Some of them are already taking part in sea trials, ”the press service of the Defense Ministry quoted Navarsky as saying.

According to him, the updated project 955 Borei-A cruisers, which will arrive at the base, are carriers of the R-30 Bulava solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missiles. These cruisers (“Borey-A”) are a variation of the modernization of the boats of this project. They are equipped with the most modern types of weapons, as well as improved surveillance systems and the use of weapons.

As Navarsky noted, the mooring infrastructure of the Pacific Fleet’s submarine forces in Kamchatka is already ready to receive new nuclear submarines.

“The infrastructure of the command of the submarine forces is constantly being improved, including taking into account the arrival of modern nuclear submarines in the Pacific Fleet. The construction of the berthing infrastructure continues and is at its final stage. We’ll be done by the end of the year. The berthing front is already fully ready to receive new ships, ”Navarsky said.

According to him, modern infrastructure makes it possible to provide the submarines located at the base with all energy sources (electricity, water, oxygen, etc.).
