Moscow: Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union and a reformer, has died at 91 of ill health.
A veteran political leader of the disintegrated Soviet Union, he was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 until its dissolution in 1991. He brought huge reforms then. The Cold War came to an end under his brilliant administration. Many countries broke away from the Soviet Union and became republics. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990.
