by time news

A jump in the number of shooting attacks in Judea and Samaria since the beginning of the year. In the evening news it was announced this evening (Tuesday) that 60 such attacks have already occurred this year. Last year there were 50 shooting attacks, in 2020 there were 48 and in 2019 there were 61 shooting attacks.

In addition to this, this year there were dozens more cases in which Palestinian armed men shot at the security forces during entry into Palestinian cities and villages during arrests in the territories. So far this year, the security forces have succeeded in thwarting 220 shooting attacks in Judea and Samaria against soldiers and civilians, following the arrest of wanted persons and following targeted intelligence information from the General Security Service (Shab).

Security officials recognize that the terrorist elements in Gaza are encouraging the escalation in Judea and Samaria. Part of the funding goes to the terrorist organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad directly from Iran.

The governance of the Palestinian Authority is loosening

A disturbing trend of the loosening of the governance of the Palestinian security mechanisms leads to Nablus becoming Jenin – with more exchanges of fire and shooting incidents. There are more places that the Palestinian policemen do not enter and sometimes they themselves are shot by gangs. The result: more shooting attacks, more exchanges of fire during arrests and more involvement in terrorism by Palestinian Authority personnel.
