Tasmac insures Rs 28,000 crore worth of liquor

CHENNAI: TASMAC is going to insure 27 thousand 970 crore rupees worth of liquor boxes stored in warehouses for the next one year. Tasmac Corporation of the Tamil Nadu government sells beer and liquor worth 100 crore rupees daily through 5,310 retail outlets. This increases during holidays. Tasmac procures liquor from 11 private companies and beer from seven companies. From the breweries, the boxes containing the liquor bottles are transported by trucks and stored in 43 warehouses across the state, from where they are loaded onto trucks and distributed to stores on a daily basis.

TASMAC annually insures against loss of liquor cases stored in warehouses due to fire, theft etc. Accordingly, the insurance period currently in effect ends at the end of Oct.

As an eligible company, Tasmac has decided to insure beer and liquor worth Rs 27,970 crores from November 1 to October 31, 2023. For this, the work of selecting the eligible general insurance company has been started.
